      Let’s Summer It

It is the beginning of July, the weather in Sofia is getting hotter. Some of us have already been on vacation, others are impatiently longing for it. The one thing we all have in common is the need of a refreshing drink. And we thought, isn’t this the perfect occasion to have our first community party?
Yes, it is. In our coworking space we have all the amenities needed for a great party, including a spacious bar and sunny terrace. We only had to find a professional bartender to mix up the perfect summer drinks for us. They vary wildly across the continent, but the feeling of sipping a cocktail on a hot day is universal. Some of the most iconic and simple ones:

The Pimm’s Cup – Pimm’s is a quintessentially British drink, made by infusing gin with a secret concoction of botanicals, caramelised orange and warm spices. The classic Pimm’s Cup recipe involves Pimm’s, fizzy lemonade, lemon juice, lots of ice, whole strawberries and basil leaves. It is the official unofficial drink of Wimbledon.

Kir Royale – a Champagne cocktail made with a splash of French berry liqueur and garnished with fresh raspberries or lemon twist. It is a blushing alternative to sparkling rosé or straight Champagne. Originating in Dijon, France, this cocktail has become a worldwide favorite, thanks to its enjoyable flavors and variations.

Spritz Veneziano – the Aperol Spritz is by far the most internationally popular version of this ubiquitous summer cocktail, but Aperol wasn’t the first drink to make waves in Italy. The honour goes to the Italian bitter aperitif called Select. Created in 1920 in Venice, Select was combined with northern Italian sparkling wine from Prosecco and a splash of sparkling water to make the original Spritz Veneziano.

However, the stories behind the cocktails are not what gathered us. It is the cocktails themselves and the desire to get to know each other better. And we did!
